Horton Plaza Real Estate & Information
Horton Plaza is the heart and soul of one of the great cities of the 21st Century. In 1867 Alonzo Horton a real estate developer bought 960 acres of waterfront land, and stated it was the best place for building a city. Today Horton Plaza with 7 levels through 6 ½ city blocks is a grand shopping and entertainment center with 172 shops, restaurants, boutiques and bistros and is named after Alonso Horton. High rise office buildings and condominiums also contribute to this thriving area.
What a wonderful neighborhood to explore and discover at every angle. Horton Plaza borders the Marina District and the Columbia business area. There is a great energy in this district as well as a high concentration of restaurants, nightclubs, shopping and local conveniences.
Across the street from Horton Plaza is the US Grant Hotel named after Ulysses S. Grant the 18th President of the United States. Since being built 13 other US Presidents have stayed in the hotel. Definitely a must see even if you only see the lobby, the hotel recently spent $56 million on the recent renovation. The Balboa Theatre is a historic performing arts venue that is attached to Horton Plaza.
